- No. 30 (Hobsonville) Squadron
Established in November of 1968, No. 30 (Hobsonville) Squadron Air Training Corps has been training young people in military knowledge, bush craft, aviation, first aid and life skills for the past 40 years.
We parade every Thursday evening from 6.30 to 9.30 at our base located on RNZAF Base Auckland (Whenuapai Airfield).
- Air Training Corps - New Zealand Cadet Forces
The New Zealand Cadet Forces (NZCF) comprise the Sea Cadet Corps, the New Zealand Cadet Corps and the Air Training Corps. It is a voluntary, disciplined, uniformed youth leadership training organisation for both boys and girls aged 13 to 18.
The organisation is not part of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), but is directed by the Chief of Defence Force, on behalf of the Minister of Defence, and is supported in partnership by the NZDF and the community.

- Introducing the Officer Staff at No. 30 (Hobsonville) Squadron
It comes as a surprise to many parents and caregivers when they learn that the Officers at No 30 Sqn are all volunteers, that’s right we all have full time jobs we attend during the day and we choose to spend our spare time planning and running activities for your children to enjoy. After learning this we thought it would be appropriate to introduce each of the Officers.

Patrick de Vos van Steenwijk
Patrick joined the Air Training Corps in 1988 as a cadet and completed his Commissioning Course in 1993. He completed his Command Course in 2001. He completed the NZCF Officers Bushcraft Course in 1994, He is a Range Safety Officer and shooting coach. Patrick holds a Level 4 certificate in Adult Education and Training. He is a retail development and promotions manager for Wesfarmers NZ.

Nicola de Vos van Steenwijk
Nicola joined No 30 Squadron in 1993 as a cadet before being commissioned in 2000. Nicola completed the Commissioning Course in 2007. She is a qualified Range Safety Officer and holds a Level 4 Certificate in Adult Education and Training. Nicola completed the Command Course in 2009. She travelled to Canada in 1995 on exchange with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. She is the mother to a young son and works for Westpac in Business Banking.

Renee Matthews
Renee started her Cadet Forces career as a cadet in 1999. She attended the Commissioning Course in 2007. Renee is a qualified Range Safety Officer. She received the Unit Commanders trophy in 2009 for the exceptional hours she has contributed to planning unit activities. She works for Canvas Concepts and is studying a Diploma of Project Management. She regularly volunteers her time as the Project Manager of the ‘Smales Farm’ laser light shows.

Sam Culliford
Sam joined this unit in 2001 as a cadet, attending the Commissioning Course in 2008. He holds an Outdoor First Aid certificate from the Mountain Safety Council and is a qualified Range Safety Officer. Sam holds the Mountain Safety Council Outdoor Leader qualification after attended the course in 2010. In 2006 Sam volunteered as a counsellor for Camp America for the year. He is currently completing his building apprenticeship.

Todd O’Hara
Todd joined No 30 Squadron in 2003 and completed his commissioning course in 2010. As a cadet Todd attended Junior, Senior and Advanced Leaders along with National Aviation and Outdoor Leaders. He is a keen aviator holding his pilots license in fixed wing and rotary aircraft after studying under scholarship at Heli Flight. Todd is currently studying business at Auckland University of Technology.
