30 (Hobsonville) Squadron

30 (North Shore) Squadron was formed in November of 1968 in North Head and over the past 40+ years has paraded in several locations around the upper Auckland region. The Squadron is currently parading on RNZAF Base Auckland, Whenuapai.

The Air Training Corps (ATC) conducts a 3-year training cycle taking cadets from a basic level of knowledge through to an advanced level of knowledge in area's such as:

  • Aviation Studies
  • Bushcraft (camping, tramping, map reading, radio skills)
  • Drill and Service Training
  • Firearms Safety and Target Shooting
  • First Aid
  • Instructional Training
  • Leadership Training

There are also opportunities in the Squadron for cadets to take part in:

  • Flying Scholarships and Camps
  • Military Base Visits
  • Promotional Courses
  • The Air Force Experience Scheme
  • Local, Area and National Bushcraft Camps
  • International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE)

Activities in 2011 included:

  • Gliding & Power Flying
  • Target Shooting in Local, National and Commonwealth Shooting Competitions
  • Leadership development programs (Junior, Senior & Advanced Leader Courses)
  • ANZAC Day Parades and Battle of Britain Service
  • Whangaparaoa Queens Birthday Camp
  • Bushcraft Camps
